Reaction to Bayer v Bayern - 06.02.2016 21:00

'We had the better chances'

It was a hard fight with a lot of high-tempo football but no goals: Saturday's top clash between Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern ended in a 0-0 draw. “It was an intense and aggressive match. Overall we had the better chances,” summarised Holger Badstuber. Pep Guardiola was satisfied, particularly with the second half: “We did a good job after the break,” the FCB head coach said, congratulating Joshua Kimmich, who again deputised in central defence: “He turned in an exceptional display.”

Reaction to Leverkusen v Bayern

Pep Guardiola: “In the first half we had a few problems passing the ball three, four or five times in a row. We did a good job after the break. We were more consistent in the second half. Douglas Costa was stronger out on the wing than in the middle. Kimmich turned in an exceptional display in central defence. Kießling and Chicharito didn't have any chances. He did very well, a huge compliment!”

Holger Badstuber: “It wasn't easy. It was an intense and aggressive match. There were many fouls, many interruptions. But overall we had the better chances. If we’d made better use of them we'd have left the pitch as winners. We could have taken three big points here.”

Roger Schmidt (Leverkusen coach): “If you're up against Bayern a draw is good news too. At the end of the day I think it was a deserved draw. We managed to keep the ball away from our goal for the most part. We did a good job and we're very pleased.”

Jonathan Tah (Leverkusen): “In the end the draw is deserved. It was a tough match and we turned in a superb display as a team. We can be satisfied.”
