'It was a fantastic match'
Naturally, the Bayern camp was happy after Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Werder. “We played well,” a delighted Pep Guardiola commented. Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge praised the excellent Kingsley Coman, but also noted that “it wasn't easy until the second goal.”
Reaction to Bayern v Bremen
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: “It wasn't easy until the second goal. But the team did quite well, especially Coman with his sprints on the right. Towards the end we made it three, four, five. We didn't only take the three points, but also improved our goal difference.”
Pep Guardiola: “We played well, and that's the main thing for me. I'm the coach, but also a fan of my team. Our positional play was better than in the last few games. We allowed few counter-attacks. It was important to win today after the defeat to Mainz. A huge compliment to my players. Now we have four days until the “final” against Juventus. We need our fans from the first minute to the last to get through to the quarter-finals.”
Kingsley Coman (three assists): “It was a fantastic match. We can be very pleased with the result.”
Viktor Skripnik (Bremen coach): “It was a richly deserved victory for FC Bayern, but it was unnecessary to concede the goals so easily. But Bayern are Bayern. If they have a good day it's difficult for the rest of the world too. We have other targets: we have to perform against Mainz next weekend.”
