Reaction to Bochum v FCB - 10.02.2016 23:16

'Congratulations to the team! All credit to Bochum!'

As expected Bayern had to work hard for the 3-0 victory over Bochum in the DFB Cup quarter-finals. “It wasn't so easy until the first goal,” double scorer Robert Lewandowski commented. “After the penalty and the sending-off we had more control in the second half,” analysed Pep Guardiola, and added: “Congratulations to my team! All credit to Bochum too!”

Reaction to Bochum v Bayern

Pep Guardiola: “We're happy that we've progressed to the semi-finals. Congratulations to my team! All credit to Bochum too! We talked a lot to the players, we knew it was going to be a tough match. After the penalty and the sending-off we had more control in the second half.”

Robert Lewandowski: “It wasn't so easy until the first goal. Bochum played very well. In the cup it's always dangerous when it's 0-0. But after the opener and the red card it was easier. In the second half we controlled the match very well, Bochum didn't have any chances. After the second goal it was over. We're happy, we're in the semi-finals.”

Arjen Robben: “As expected it was difficult. A huge compliment to Bochum and their coach! I hope Bochum will be promoted. The Bundesliga deserves a team that plays this way. That's football. It was a clear penalty and a red card. There’s no question about it, those are the rules. It was difficult for Bochum after that.”

Manuel Neuer: “We expected Bochum to play that way. They’re strong in one-on-ones and go for them over the whole pitch, they press very aggressively. Under these weather conditions you just can't play brilliantly.”

Gertjan Verbeek (Bochum coach): “In the first half we played well, we showed courage and worked hard. With a little more luck we could have been in the lead. But with a man down it was difficult. Our energy dropped. Bayern didn't have their best day, but they're clever enough to see it home.”

Manuel Riemann (Bochum keeper): “Until the red card we made it as difficult as possible for Bayern. We left hardly any space and launched promising counter-attacks. With a little luck we could have gone one up, and then it would have been a completely different match. I have to congratulate the team. It's hard to put into words what they accomplished today in terms of running and fighting.”
