Lahm back out on the training ground
The Säbener Strasse facility was buzzing with activity on the Sunday after Bayern’s 2-0 victory over Eintracht Braunschweig. On a crisp day with barely a cloud in the sky a good-sized crowd of fans gathered at the practice ground to watch the senior squad go through their paces in an open training session. Many of the players who featured in the previous day’s match concentrated on regeneration exercise in the performance center, but plenty of stars were outdoors for a lot longer. Captain Philipp Lahm went jogging for the first time since straining a hamstring against CSKA Moscow. Franck Ribéry (cracked rib), Claudio Pizarro and Xherdan Shaqiri (both torn muscle bundles) were also out on the practice ground working on individual training programmes away from the rest of the squad.
Hojbjerg named young player of the year
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has captured an important award in his home country of Denmark. Bayern’s 18-year-old junior pro has been voted best young player by the Danish players’ association. “It's a great honour,” commented Hojbjerg. The midfielder became Bayern’s youngest-ever Bundesliga player when he made his top flight debut in April 2013 at the age of 17 years and 225 days. In a season interrupted by injury, Hojbjerg has scored three goals in ten appearances for the treble winners’ fourth division reserves.
